The Outsider Folk Art and African American Coalition of
Reading (A.C.O.R) galleries announced they will collaborate on one of
the city’s and state of Pennsylvania’s largest African-American art
shows in downtown Reading in honor of Black History Month and as a
special tribute to black artists.

Titled “Believe, Achieve, Succeed,” the show comprises contemporary
mixed media works of more than 100 local, regional and national artists
to be displayed from February 1 through March 26, 2010 on the first floor
of the Exide Building at 645 Penn Street.

Hours for “Believe. Achieve. Succeed.” Are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday
through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The show
is being sponsored by the Berks Arts Council and the Pennsylvania
Council on the Arts.

Some things looming, a new contemporary and traditional
fiber art gallery, 526 Washington Street, Reading, is holding a public grand opening weekend on Saturday and Sunday, March 13 and 14, 2010.
Hours are from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday with off-street parking available at the Wyndham Hotel, Fifth and Washington Streets.
Fiber art is artwork that uses linear, pliable elements--fibers--as a major material.

The Reading-Berks Chapter of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen is holding its popular 8th Annual Juried Spring Craft Festival in Kutztown University’s Keystone Hall on Saturday and Sunday March 27 and 28, 2010. Saturday’s hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday’s hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The donation to enter is $4 a person; children under 12 are free.
