55% to 45%. Voters believe that the opening of Walmart and Lowe’s at Tilden Ridge would benefit Hamburg.

83% of voters said they would avoid Hamburg during the State Street bridge repair, while 17% said it wouldn’t stop them from getting to town.

83% of voters believed that holding the Memorial Day weekend
Hamburg Family Festival at the Field House was a mistake, while 17% thought it was a good idea.

Voters chose, now-defunct, Frank-FM as their favorite local radio station.Y102 finished second, followed by the big I-105 and a tie for last between WRAW, WIOV-AM and WEEU.

The New Year’s Resolution poll resulted in no one willing to
make a resolution and keep it. 67% said they won’t make one
because they never keep them anyway. 33% said their
resolution was to make no more resolutions.

The current economic conditions resulted in 67% of voters saying they would buy more practical gifts for the holiday, while 33% said they were cancelling Christmas altogether.

Of those voting in a poll about PA’s smoking ban, nearly
63% said they were non-smokers and it was about time a
ban was implemented. The other 37% was split among those
saying they will go out less, more or patronize a bar or club exempt from the ban.

Gas prices seemed to have an effect on summer driving habits. 100% of those voting in our last poll said they drove less because of the spike in fuel cost.

A poll asking whether we really needed a Lowe’s or Walmart nearby, yielded the following results. 64% voted yes, while 36% voted no.

A recent poll concerning the efforts of the OurTown Foundation
found 54.55% thought it was doing a good job, 22.73% felt the results are fair, 18.18% voted it was a waste of tax dollars and
4.55% thought it was doing a poor job promoting Hamburg

In a poll about Hamburg’s best breakfast, the Gun Club won with 36% of the vote. Rounding out the ballot, in order of popularity with our visitors, were the Legion, Hamburg Diner/3rd Street Cafe tied for 3rd, then came the American House, followed by the Vets.

By a 2-1 margin, voters said they were concerned about their safety, due to the drug related homicide in Hamburg.

50% of voters stated that Hamburg-er Day was ‘Just OK’, while 25% voted that it was ‘Average’ and 25% voted it was ‘Great’.
